Goat Minerals
Golden Blend Goat Minerals For Complete Nutrition
Boer Goats were brought into this country from other continents and we thought we could put them in the pasture and forget about them. This is how we raised the goats which are native to this land. But stop and think about it. This country has completely different types of plants. In their native habitat boer goats and kiko goats are not fed goat feed. They have vast acres on which they can browse. This is why it is very important to feed them a good, complete goat mineral.

How many times have you heard “Goats don't need Copper”?
This is one of the biggest misconceptions people have about goats. Copper is necessary for the absorption and utilization of Iron, it helps oxidize vitamin C and it works in conjunction with Vitamin C to form elastin, a chief component of muscle. It also helps with the formation of red blood cells and bone structure. A copper deficiency does not allow the bone marrow cells to reach maturity. Copper is actively transported through the intestinal wall and stored in the liver. Copper deficiency produces an anemia, indistinguishable from iron deficiency. Copper plays a role in iron absorption and mobilization. Copper Deficiency impairs the formation of connective tissue proteins, collagen and elastin.
Copper is not the only mineral which your goat needs. They need phosphorus and calcium to build strong bones and teeth and to aid in reproduction. These two need to be balanced in order to work properly.
Sodium and Chlorine from salt maintains the mineral and acid balance and helps the digestive system.
Magnesium is essential for bone and teeth and enzyme action, but to much will cause urinary tract problems.
Sulfur is necessary for muscle tissue, bone, circulatory and digestive tract.
Manganese is essential for bone development. Zinc influences feed utilization.
Cobalt aids in digestion and proper use of carbohydrates.
Iodine is important for proper thyroid functions. This is very important in goats.
Selenium is involved in enzyme reactions and many parts of the United States is deficient in Selenium, so it is very important to feed a mineral which contains Selenium.
Vitamin A is necessary for maintenance of Epithelial Tissue, vision and for normal bone metabolism.
Vitamin D is necessary for adequate absorption of calcium and phosphorus.
Vitamin E along with Selenium helps prevent White Muscle Disease in kids.
Many companies will add one ingredient but will leave out the other. For instance they will add copper and leave out iron. Or they will add Selenium and leave out Vitamin E. They do this because of the cost of the iron and Vitamin E. So make sure and read the label to make sure each vitamin and mineral also contains its counterpart.
Remember that MORE is not always better. If you use a good mineral you don't need to add additional Selenium unless you consult your Vet and have a soil sample done. To much Selenium can be toxic. Also to much magnesium can cause urinary tract problems in young buck kids. When reading the labels on minerals you need to remember that your goats are picking up vitamins and minerals in the forage, grass, and feed which they consume. Unless your soil is deficient in a mineral you don't need to feed a mineral supplement with high levels of any mineral.
A well balanced mineral supplement is the most important thing you can do for your goats. Golden Blend has developed a mineral which is balanced with each and every vitamin and mineral which your goat needs to stay healthy. We at Custom Milling know that the goats used in the meat goat industry are not natural to the United States. We do not have the same food source which they have in their native areas, therefore it is very important that we supplement them with feed and minerals. We also know how hard it is to get goats to eat minerals. No matter how good for them it is if they won't eat it you have wasted your money. Golden Blend has added a natural fruitose sweetener to our mineral. You can smell it when you open the bucket. Your goats will think it is candy. We guaranteed YOUR GOATS WILL EAT GOLDEN BLEND GOAT MINERALS.
